speeza Privacy Policy
Last updated October 28, 2026
This policy describes how speeza (“the app”), made by Kokdemir Labs, handles your information. speeza is a phrasebook that speaks: you write or save phrases, and the app translates them into the language you need and says them out loud.
Summary
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics SDK and no tracking.
- Translation, speech, text recognition and the Apple Intelligence helpers run on your device. We do not run servers for your content, and we never see your phrases.
- When iCloud sync is on, your phrases are kept in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot see.
- To manage the optional Pro purchase, the app uses Adapty with an anonymous identifier.
Data stored on your device
The app stores your phrases and their translations, collections, trips, Reader texts, pronunciation entries and settings on your device. It keeps a copy of your phrases in a container on your device that is shared with its widgets, Control Center controls, Siri shortcuts, share extension and Apple Watch app, so they can show them. It also adds your phrases to Spotlight on your device so you can find them in search. None of this is sent to us.
Translation, speech and Apple Intelligence
- Translation uses Apple’s Translation framework and runs on your device. The language files come from Apple the first time you need a language pair. After that, translating works offline. Your text is not sent to us or to any translation service.
- Speech uses the voices installed on your device. If you allow it, the app can also speak with your Personal Voice, which iOS creates and keeps on your device.
- The Apple Intelligence helpers (writing phrases for a situation, rewriting and summarizing) use Apple’s on-device language model on supported devices. Your text does not leave your device for these features, and you can turn them off in the app’s settings.
- Audio you save from the Reader is made on your device and goes only where you choose to share or save it.
Camera and photos
To read signs, menus and documents, the app uses the camera only while the scanner is open and recognizes the text on your device with Apple’s VisionKit and Vision frameworks. If you pick a photo, the system photo picker gives the app only the photo you pick, not the rest of your library. The app does not save camera images or photos. The text it reads is kept only if you save it as a phrase or a Reader text.
Microphone and speech recognition
Conversation mode asks for access to the microphone and to speech recognition so it can hear the person you are talking to. The app uses Apple’s speech recognition and asks it to work on your device whenever the language supports that. For a language that cannot be recognized on your device, Apple’s speech recognition service processes the audio on Apple’s servers, under Apple’s privacy policy. The app does not record or keep the audio, and it uses the microphone only while conversation mode is listening.
iCloud sync
If iCloud sync is on and you are signed in to iCloud, your phrases, translations, collections, trips, Reader texts and pronunciation entries are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices. Apple keeps this data under your Apple Account, and we cannot see it. You can turn iCloud sync off in the app’s settings. Apple’s privacy policy applies to data in iCloud.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app gets your phrases and translations from your iPhone through Apple’s WatchConnectivity. They travel between your own devices and are not sent to us.
Web pages you open
When you paste a link into the Reader or share a web page with the app, it downloads that page directly from its website to pull out the readable text. The website receives an ordinary request from your device, including your IP address, just as when you open the page in a browser. The page is not sent to us.
Purchases
speeza Pro is a one-time lifetime in-app purchase. Payments are handled by Apple, and we never see your payment details.
To sell, unlock and restore Pro, the app uses Adapty, a purchase management service, as our service provider. Adapty processes:
- a random identifier the app creates on your device and keeps in your device’s Keychain, so a reinstall keeps your purchase;
- Adapty’s own installation identifier and your device’s identifier for vendor (IDFV);
- your device model, iOS version, app version, language, region, time zone and App Store country;
- your purchase and transaction information from the App Store;
- which purchase screens were shown, and, after a purchase, which part of the app it started from.
Collection of the advertising identifier (IDFA) and your IP address is turned off in the app. The app never sends Adapty your phrases, translations, texts, audio or anything you write. We use this information to provide your purchase and to understand which offers work, not to identify you personally. Adapty’s handling of this data is described in its privacy policy linked above.
Contacting support
If you email us, for example from the app’s settings, we receive your email address and what you write, and we use them only to answer you.
Diagnostics
The app contains no crash reporting or analytics SDK. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Data retention and deletion
Your content remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app, and deleting the app removes its locally stored data. If iCloud sync is on, deleting an item in the app deletes it from your iCloud as well. The random purchase identifier and your last known Pro status stay in your device’s Keychain after you delete the app, only so your purchase is found again if you reinstall. They contain nothing about you. For questions about your purchase data at Adapty, contact us.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We will update this page when the app’s data practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
